Well what a night it was!!!
Lucy/Hughes entered two women’s novice teams and they did spectacularly well, flying across that finish line all guns blazing! Novice W1 came first in their heat with an average split of 1.54.0 secs, and were 2 seconds faster than the second place. Our first rower, Francesca O’Hanlon achieved an amazing 1.42 split, making her the fastest women novice beating over 150 men. They then went on to come 5th overall with a time of 1.55.6, with Jesus coming first with 1.50.1. It was really close right till the very end with Newnham (1.55.4) and Sidney (1.55.5).
Then in our Novice W2 division we came third overall with a time of 2.03.7 – Clare won with 2.00 and Christs just pipped us to the post by 0.2 of a second, with a time of 2.03.5.
Needless to say, both I and Catherine are immensely proud of their achievements! All I can say now is – Bring on Emma Sprints!
